Most post apocalypse books aren't about the apocalypse itself. Most zombie books are about the zombies and the gore unless they were about voodoo. This book was neither and both and a whole lot more.Temple is smart strong and fearless but it's the world that created her this way. She also seems foolishly brazen at times till you realize that what she wants may be a good end to hidden pain. It's a coming of age story that makes me wonder how someone that mostly looked after themselves could have such a vocabulary yet call a man a dummy.I have a love/hate with both her and Moses. The whole set up just doesn't feel right. And don't get me started on the Nephilim. The author seemed to want to include a little too much in this short novel without fully fleshing it out.I did enjoy Bell's prose. He writes well and that's what tipped me into giving this book four stars and not three. Please may I have half stars?
