The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald I was kind of prepared not to like this book. I knew it was based on very vapid and shallow people that I really thought I could never relate to. After reading it this novel both confirmed and belayed my misgivings. I never really did care for any of the characters except Nick yet I found the writing so wonderful that I was glad I read it.Maybe it is the dated subject matter although I love historical fiction. Maybe it's the fact I found most of the characters too self absorbed which I will admit has made me like other books. In the end I would call this literature but just not my kind of literature.
