On the Road - Jack Kerouac The thing that kept running through my head this entire novel was "For Christ's sake Dean can't you just keep it in your pants?" No wonder a number of men have never grown up if this was their ideal. A good portion of the so called innocence in this novel really is ignorance and we won't even get into Kerouac's thoughts on ethnicity or ethics. So after all that, I still liked the book. I wasn't as in love with it as some are but I followed Sal and Dean just to see how irresponsible they could become. I also saw why I liked Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and for almost exactly the same reasons. I will admit I liked Fear and Loathing a lot more.
